Let Us Open The Door For Single Moms

The last census counted 20.9 million single mothers and displaced homemakers in the United States.   It also pointed out that people that fall into this category are most likely to be poor or nearly poor in their income. For the most part they show that they are likely to be in low paying service occupations and few have benefits.   The educational level of these people show that over half have no education beyond high school.  These census figures point out that this country needs Job Training For Single Mothers.  And most of them are existing at a survival level barely able to provide shelter and food for their families so they do not have the time nor the means to search out or access Job Training For Single Mothers.

Providing Job Training for Single Mothers is a responsibility we all must share.  These women are often the victims of domestic violence and have many worries that most of us do not experience.   If they dropped out of high school or just finished high school to start their family, skill levels and job expectations have changed since they were last in the job force.  They now have to provide child care.  They have to insure they can find a work schedule that encompasses school and day care schedules.  Then they have to take care of the normal chores such as shopping and ministering to their children's needs.  Where can we expect them to find the time for Job Training for Single Mothers?

Now is the time to support our legislators on the local,  state,  and federal level in developing non traditional education and training for single moms at home.  Programs need to be introduced that are flexible.  What is needed in Arkansas may not be what is needed in Alaska.  Funding can be made available to let the states and counties implement programs that will work for their constituents.  It may be best to provide them with non-cash benefits support or even child care.  In many cases Job Training for Single Mothers may include psychological counseling to help them cross the threshold between battered wife and a successful contributing business woman.

Most of these women are able to achieve success.  They have been held back because of a lack of Job Training For Single Mothers which has closed their doors to opportunity.  We have nearly 21 million people out there that could step in to many of the emerging job in technology if we opened the door for them.
